How do I hire you for a mural and how much does it cost?

The first steps I take for creating a mural is asking:

- How big is the space? (This helps me determine approximately how long the project will take)

- What sort of artwork would you like there? (We brainstorm ideas together or I can offer them to you)

- What colors or paint mediums will we use? (This helps me determine how much to charge for paint)

- Is this space available all hours or limited hours for me to work in? (This helps me work around your schedule)

- Am I going to need a ladder or a mechanical scissor lift? (I own a ladder, so this is no additional cost to you but I do not own a scissor lift and scissor lifts are usually used for tall buildings. Renting one can range between $3,000 - $6,000 depending on how long you use it)

- When do you need it completed? (You will receive a written project date agreement when we come up with the agreed upon dates of completion)

The final step includes creating an invoice (a bill of my services) and sending it to you or the organization/company you work for.

I wish I could work with payment plans, but the higher cost of mural work requires each financial building block to be in place (i.e. physical paint, mechanical scissor lift and agreed-upon paid hours) in order to complete the project. With that in mind, please prepare to pay any invoice/s in full prior to the start of the project.

What are your fees for public speaking?

Flexible fees. If it’s an opportunity to help my community, I want to take it. I will always take that chance regardless of cost.

What exactly do you speak about?

I tell my story about my transition from female to male. I make my vulnerable perspective accessible for academic minds, I open the floor to anyone who has questions by announcing to the room they’re welcome to ask anything and everything (no matter how uncomfortable or awkward the question is) and I answer them to the best of my ability (as seen in a college classroom below)

Can I ask you about your gender transition online or in person?

I encourage it! Knowledge on a subject reduces your fear of said subject; reduced fear results in connection followed by protection. I’m tired of seeing the tragic statistics of two-spirit & transgender people committing suicide, being bullied, being sexually assaulted, being disowned by their families, being homeless and going missing or being murdered. If all I have to do is just talk about my journey and give people a point of reference to familiarize them with two-spirit & transgender diversity, then I’ll do it in hopes that others might benefit from that. I cannot promise I’ll have the mental energy at the time you ask me, but I can promise I’ll give you the answers that I can when I’m ready to share. You are also welcome to direct message me on any of my social media platforms. I will maintain your privacy.

HOW DO I GET A COMMISSIONED ART PIECE?

Information to consider prior to contacting me for commissioned pieces:

-Budget / Price Range

-Your location & cost of shipping

-Whether or not you’d like a frame
(& if your budget includes frame)

-Approximate size & dimensions you’re interested in

-Photos of the space where you plan to hang the completed work (Not required, just helpful)

-Colors and/or content of art piece (please get an idea of my work and go from there)

-An agreed date of completion. Give me a deadline, they don’t scare me.
