This shirt taps into those old-school indigenous ancestral ways by being eco-friendly. The graphics featured on this shirt were designed by Alx Kujana, a Cayuse-Nez Perce tribal member belonging to the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He has titled the graphics on both sides of the shirt ‘Ribbons of Life’ due to the frequent use of ribbons in his tribal regalia for both men, women and two-spirit individuals.

It’s true that this shirt is woven and printed abroad (Latvia), but it’s also true that Alx resides on his tribe’s reservation in Eastern Oregon and consciously recycles his profits back into the tribe by prioritizing the purchases and/or support of tribal food, fuel, fun, fashion, arts, music and crafts from other members of the local tribal community as well as surrounding areas that support tribal endeavors.

A special note from Alx:
In this particular case, tribally-designed does not mean tribally-exclusive. The diversity advertised for this garment is intentional so that ALL feel welcome to show their support for the existence of indigenous identity, culture and design. ‘SHUN’ by Alx Kujana is a reflective piece surrounding the culture of social shunning in indigenous communities. Cultural and social shunning is not often spoken about because it involves hearsay that confront uncomfortable information, including but not limited to tribal politics, tribal sports, tribal events or tribally-dominated social media platforms.
Cancel culture has been on the rise within indigenous communities and this photo reflects that by providing the viewer with the back of an indigenous person who is coincidentally wearing shell earrings with hearts depicted on them to represent the irony of socially shunning "out of love". The colors display bold red and blue hues that encapsulate the feelings of the inevitable nervousness/anxiety/rejection involved in being shunned.
