Artist Note:
Baby On Board was created with the tribes of the Pacific Northwest’s baby boards in mind. This original pictograph-inspired work features a braided individual wearing a ribbon skirt while carrying a baby board with a chrome-finish acrylic circle shape shines brightly against a matte background and a striking contrasted glossy black outline surrounding the traversing family. I’ve personally experienced being swaddled and carried in a baby board as a foster child of ICWA. I remember it very well.
